Transportation plays a crucial role in the daily life of college students, as regular commuting affects their time management, comfort, stress levels and academic routine. The present study aims to analyse and compare the impact of public transport and personal vehicles on college students. The study is based on primary data collected through a structured questionnaire from 132 college students using different modes of transport. The objectives of the study include examining students’ transport preferences, reasons for choosing a particular mode, challenges faced during commuting and the overall effect of transport mode on their academic routine. A descriptive and analytical research design was adopted for the study. Percentage analysis and the Chi-square test were used to analyse the data and test the hypotheses. The findings reveal that public transport is most used mode due to low cost and accessibility, while personal vehicles are preferred for time saving, comfort, and flexibility. The study also highlights that students face different challenges depending on the mode of transport, such as overcrowding and delays in public transport, and traffic congestion and fuel costs in personal vehicles. Overall, the study concludes that the mode of transport has a noticeable impact on students’ daily commuting experience and academic life. The study suggests the need for improved public transport services and student-friendly transport policies.
